Faqs

Q:  What do you mean by 'Untreated' Hair?

A:  We consider untreated hair to be Hair that has not been color-treated with either semi-permanent or permanent color, and hair that has not been chemically treated with perms, or straightening/relaxing treatments.

Q:  Why should I use the Mists?

A: The Mists are critical to making your hair look and feel the way you want it too. Also, the Mists impart benefits to the hair that stay in, and are not rinsed out.

We compare what the Mists do to a face or body moisturizer. When you use a moisturizer, you don’t rinse it out. You want it to stay in your skin and continue to do its job.  Our Mists function in a similar way on the hair. They remain in and do their job.

Q: Why are there different types of Mists?

A: We have developed different Mists because different hair types have different needs. For example, fine hair needs volume and body, but dry, damaged hair requires extra moisturizing and care.  There are four different Mists:

Volumizing Mist for Fine Hair

Managing Mist for Normal Hair

Silkening Mist for Thick, Coarse Hair

Reviving Mist for Dry, Damaged Hair

Q: How should I use the Mists?

A: The mists are leave-ins and formulated to be used on damp, towel-dried hair, prior to using any styling products.

The Reviving Mist can also be used as a night treatment on the night before washing your hair the following day, or also on split ends.

Q: Are the Mists styling products?

A: No, the Mists are not styling products, as they contain no resins or gels to “hold” hair.  You should find, however, that using the Mists should help in your styling, as they do not contain any silicones or resins, and leave the hair wonderfully conditioned. You may even find that you would prefer not use any styling products at all, which we heartily recommend.

Q: Can I use more than one Mist at a time?

A: The quick answer is yes, except we do not recommend using the Reviving Mist at the same time as the Volumizing Mist. If your hair is fine, but damaged, we recommend you use the Reviving Mist at night, on the nights before you wash you hair the next morning.  After you wash your hair with NATU Shampoo and Conditioner, use only the Volumizing Mist. You can repeat this process as needed.

For Normal hair, we would recommend using the Reviving Mist on the damaged ends only. You should use the Managing Mist all over, and then use the Reviving Mist on the ends.

For Thick hair, you can use both the Silkening Mist and Reviving Mist together. These products work very well together on thick hair, regardless of whether it is straight or curly.

Q: Can I use styling products with NATU?

A: Yes, you can use styling products with NATU, but please know that styling products contain silicones (give a ‘plasticized’ coat the hair to make it look shiny) and/or resins (sticky chemicals that act like glue so your hair stays in place).  We won’t use these chemicals in our products because they add nothing to the health of the hair.

If you are going to use styling products, please use them after using all NATU products.

Q: How do I know I’m using the right Mist?

A: Most people seem to know their hair texture, but you may need to have more info about which NATU products to use. if the Solutions in the SHOP NATU guide are not specific enough for you, the following should be helpful.

If you have:

A Lot of Fine Hair:

Use the appropriate Shampoo and Conditioner (for Color-treated or Untreated Hair) and if you want more body, the Volumizing Mist. If you want a little more control rather than volume and body, use the Managing Mist. It will add some manageability and additional light conditioning without flattening your hair.

Thinning Fine Hair:

Use the appropriate Shampoo and Conditioner (for Color-treated or Untreated Hair) and the Volumizing Mist.

Fine Hair that’s Dry or Damaged All Over:

Use the Reviving Mist on your hair the night before you wash your hair. Spray it on dry hair and comb or brush it through. The next morning, use the appropriate Shampoo and Conditioner (for Color-treated or Untreated Hair), and follow with the Volumizing Mist only. Do not use the Volumizing Mist and Reviving Mist at the same time.

Repeat this process as necessary. You will absolutely notice a difference.

Normal Hair with Split or Dry Ends:

Use the appropriate Shampoo and Conditioner (for Color-treated or Untreated Hair) and follow with Managing Mist all over. Use the Reviving Mist on the ends only, not all over.

Normal Hair that’s Dry or Damaged All Over:

Use the Reviving Mist on your hair the night before you wash your hair. Spray it on dry hair and comb or brush it through. The next morning, use the appropriate Shampoo and Conditioner (for Color-treated or Untreated Hair), and follow with the Managing Mist, using the Reviving Mist only on the ends.

Repeat this process as necessary. You will absolutely notice a difference.

Thick, Coarse Hair that’s Dry or Damaged:

Use the appropriate Shampoo and Conditioner (for Color-treated or Untreated Hair), follow with both Silkening Mist and Reviving Mist. Both of these products can be used all over your hair at the same time.

Q: Why don’t you have different shampoos and rinse-out conditioners for different hair types?

A: We think that a lot of different shampoo and rinse-out conditioner formulas for different hair types is unnecessary and mainly ‘hype’. All hair is composed of natural proteins, amino acids, lipids, nutrients and vitamins. Very gentle cleansing to remove dirt, grease, and synthetic build-up from silicones and resins is the role of a shampoo. Conditioners should detangle, leave hair more manageable, and replace some of the essential building-blocks of hair that have been compromised through chemical processing or heat treatment and styling.

Where the hair type is important is for leave-in products, like our Mists. We believe there are only four hair types: Fine, Normal, Thick and Dry/Damaged.

Q: I’ve heard about sulfates and parabens. Why should I avoid them?

A: Sulfates (Sodium Lauryl Sulfate, Ammonium Lauryl Sulfate) are known irritants and can be very drying. They are way too strong for use in hair care products, and are used in products such as dishwashing liquid and other household and commercial cleaners.

Parabens (Ethylparaben, Methylparaben, Propylparaben, Butylparaben) can cause allergic reactions.

Q: I already use a sulfate and paraben free shampoo. Why should I use NATU?

A: Even though your brand may say there are no sulfates or parabens, there are many other harsh ingredients that are used as substitutes and can still be found in your hair care products.

With NATU, you are assured that the harsh synthetics typically found in most shampoos have been removed, and replaced by natural-born proteins, amino acids, lipds, essential fatty acids, nutrients, and vitamins that are the same kind of ingredient found in healthy hair.

Q: What are Ethoxylates and why should I avoid them?

A: Ethoxylates are cleaning chemicals with names like Sodium Laureth Sulfate or Ammonium Laureth Sulfate, and you can spot them by the letters –eth at the end of words (like Laureth) in the ingredient lists of shampoos and other cleansing products. They are widely used in many non-beauty products, such as dishwashing liquids. When these compounds are manufactured, a by-product can be 1,4 dioxane, which is a carcinogen. Not all products have dioxane, but you don’t know the ones that do or don’t unless it is specified. Our solution at NATU is not to use them at all.

Q: Does NATU test on animals?

A:  No. None of our products have been tested on animals.

Q: Is NATU Vegan?

A: Yes. There are no animal products whatsoever in NATU. All of our natural ingredients are derived from plant sources.

Q: Is NATU Gluten-Free?

A: Yes. All NATU products are Gluten-free.

Q: Is NATU Soy-Free?

A: Not every product. We use soybean-derived products in our Reawakening and Professional Colorist Conditioners, and Lecithin, which is derived from soybeans, in our Reviving Mist.

Q: My hair care already has natural ingredients, why should I use NATU?

A: Just because a shampoo or conditioner contains a natural ingredient or two, it doesn’t mean it is natural. Many times, products highlight a natural ingredient or two to make you think the whole product is natural.

We don’t believe that having a few, or even many, natural ingredients is what makes a great hair product. What we have done with NATU is really unique. What is ground-breaking is that NATU’s formula is based on giving back to your hair what nature gave you naturally. The same kind of natural-born ingredients you find in healthy hair – proteins, lipids, amino acids, essential fatty acids, vitamins and nutrients are what you find in NATU.

You will immediately notice a difference in how your hair looks and feels. By eliminating harsh and coating chemicals, the results are truly amazing- and healthier for both you and your hair.
